Our History

TownHall Investment Research, formerly JRPG, has been publishing research and advising institutional money managers on the wireless and digital Communications sectors since 2007.  In that time, we have added over twenty five names to coverage and published over 350 reports covering all aspects of our sectors from broad themes to new technologies to specific stock recommendations.  We have hosted more than a dozen conference calls covering a wide range of topics from broad industry themes to company specific reviews and analysis.   TownHall has consistently offered their clients a differentiated, proprietary, and thought provoking research product geared to understanding where the best investment opportunities lie in the wireless and digital communications sectors.

Our Team

Jamie Townsend and Gerard Hallaren formed TownHall.  Each of whom has more than twenty-five years of experience using industry research in the investment research process. 

Jamie was previously President and CEO of SoundView Financial Group.  He was part of the original team at SoundView that delivered one of the first research products on Wall Street that incorporated traditional investment analysis with industry experts and consultants.  The proprietary relationship that SoundView had with Gartner Group, the worlds’ leading IT consultant firm, enabled Jamie and his team to establish SoundView as one of the leading research sources for differentiated and consistently forward looking research in the technology industry 

Gerard was previously Director of Investment Research at Gartner.  Before that, Gerard worked with META Group first for First Albany and later as an independent distributor.  His responsibility was to combine Meta Groups’ and later Gartner’s consultant based IT research with his own investment analysis.  Following META’s acquisition by Gartner, he became Gartner’s Director of Investment Research where he continued his work leveraging industry research for investors.   Hallaren began his research career at IDC where he was responsible for predicting future computer prices.

Through their experiences at SoundView, First Albany, Meta Group and Gartner, Jamie and Gerard have repeatedly demonstrated that superior research in high growth technology driven industries stems from a combination of industry expert input and disciplined securities analysis.  Delivering this differentiated research to clients in a timely and investment relevant fashion has also been one of the hallmarks of their past efforts.

David Eller joined TownHall in April 2009 and has been producing investment research on technology stocks since 1996.  Most recently, Reuters had retained David to build an expert access business focused on the Renewable Energy and Mobile Software industries.  In addition to his experience building expert networks, David has performed more traditional buy and sell side roles at Bowman Capital, Owenoke Capital, Credit Suisse, and Morgan Stanley.
